Thank you to the crew at CBC Radio One in Kelowna and Kamloops for your coverage of the BC Interior wild fire situation tonight.
Nice to see them have the flexability to pre-empt shows like As It Happens and others to make way for local emergency programming.
Reports from several staffers in and around evacuated areas, up tp date road closure information and callers from listeners who were affected.
This is the kind of stuff that makes live and local radio shine.
Out of interest, I tuned into one time Interior News and Information powerhouse NL-610. All I got was a jukebox playing oldies, totally oblivious as to what was going on in their back yard.
Pitiful. And Newcap hasn't taken it over yet.
Stuff like this is why the CBC has the numbers it has in many cities these days.
