Tom Mark calls it a Career

Postby Russ_Byth » Tue Sep 04, 2018 4:43 pm

Tom Mark has decided to hang up his mic and headphones for the last time.

Currently working at 1075 Beach Radio in Vernon, Tom has decided October 26th, the end of ratings, will be his last day.

It's almost 48 years in the business for Tom. He was hoping to make it 50, but after a recent two-week vacation, decided sleeping in was a pretty cool thing.

Over his career, Tom has picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award and 4 Best Newscast Awards from what was then RTNDA Canada.

I've been lucky enough to call Tom my friend since about 1988, and my boss for a few years at the inception of News1130 and I know he will be missed on the airwaves of Canada.

Happy Retirement Buddy!!

CBC Vancouver anchor Dan Burritt posted this tribute to Tom from a bunch of his former co-workers on Facebook today ...

He set high expectations, read with the authority of a deity, was quick with a joke and with helpful advice. Thank you to the great Tom Mark for mentoring, cajoling, correcting and guiding so many of us in the news business for 48 years. And thank you to everyone who shared their best wishes for Tom.
