The numbers are current and last ratings numbers.

Interesting to note that the Top 5 have remained in the same order, but three of them have very different numbers.

The survey dates were April 17 thru June 11.

Last year the S2 survey only covered Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal.

This year Edmonton, Calgary, QWinnipeg, Ottawa and a few others have been included.

Survey 1 was taken January 9- March 5, 2006 while Survey 2 was April 17-
June 11. Survey 3 was just completed July 3-16 but won't be released until October 2nd. The first book that will have hockey is Survey 4 being taken September 4-
October 29 to be released December 4th. I bet Plasteras and the brainless trust at Corus are going to get a big lump of coal in their stockings this year.

Even with NW taking a much deserved nosedive Corus still owns this market lock, stock and barrel. Their 4 stations have a combined 29.5 market share while their closest competitor Rogers has barely half the share at 14.6 followed by Chum with 12.7. Ain't consolidation great?

Regardless of what % of the market they control, they sure as hell can't seem to sell the #1 station.

The number of promos and PSAs they run is incredible.

I would be willing to be that 40% of NWs audience is over 55...maybe even more than that. Corus owns the male demo's in this market with MI and the FOX and that is where they make serious profits. NW is a high overhead operation that doesn't give them near the return as the FM's which is why they've been cutting costs. I wouldn't be surprised in Pattisons AM600 makes more profit than NW. The latest ratings show that the audience isn't stupid. Obviously they've noticed the programming changes and massive numbers of listeners have gone elsewhere. I predict that by the time the book comes out in December NW will be 3rd or 4th overall. In the end Corus probably doesn't care because they will make more money out of a leaner, lower rated station.
