I almost totally forgot about that incident at 8th & McBride.

It was Russ Byth and the NW jock was Leigh McKay who had likely been doing a remote at Wosks or Ace Carpets.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Is this the same Russ? Anyone know who it was at NW that decked the poor kid operator?

The kid operator was probably Russ.

Standing with the Messrs. Russell, Dettman, and Linden is ex-1130 editor Dianne Collins.

OK, allow me to put an end to the speculation.

Yes, that is me and Gregg Carmichael in the picture.

Yes, I was whalloped by Leigh MacKay at 'NW.... however, it was a karate kick to the head, in the control room, for no apparent reason. You might ask Leigh why, but I doubt that he remembers why.

And no, I did not go to BCIT at any time.

And Radiofan, I have a feeling I know who you are because of your extreme inside knowledge of the incident. Were you my 'boss' at the time.

Hope that clears everything up.

Hey Russ, welcome to RadioWest!

I always enjoy your business reports on 'WX.

But that one today about Starbucks' shares taking a dive - you were just kidding around, right?

I haven't been around here lately, TD, nor have I read the thread, so it may be answered.

The fine Assignment Editor Gregg Carmichael is on the left and Herb Ham's backup Russell Byth is on the right.

Both are a little larger since CKWX changed to a news format 10 years ago, the anniversary party for which I'm assuming the picture was taken.

The two are fine people. Both were at a station that employed people named Frosty, Warren Barker and Gary Bannerman. Is it still on the air? ;)

It appears to be:

Scott R. Verrechia, Richard Walter Dettman, Dianne 'Phone Buster' Collins and Frank Martina's former opening act, Robert Linden.

Yes, TD. Their son would sound great on the air, but he's too smart to get into the business.

As for the picture, I don't know what's more shocking - seeing Joe Leary at a function with alcohol or Tammy Moyer with a date.

OK, yes, I do know.

Thanks Pluto.... I usually watch these forums but don't participate...and I'm not creative enough to come up with a psudo... pseudo..sudo...an assumed name... so I use the one I know best! And yes, Starbucks is down 6 percent..... funny what happens when your sales fall short of expectations!

Russ, you were kicked in the head? Seriously?

I was punched once by a GM, and swatted a sales guy myself. This may be strange but I actually miss the good old days when this could happen and people could just get on with their days.

Freakin' lawyers have messed everything up.

Pluto will be in bad shape today. Not only is Starbucks stock down, but they won't even sell you a coffee today with the bad water scare. I can't see Pluto getting thru the day on a bottle of Nestle water and a Nanaimo Bar.

I'll stick with my Diet Pepsi.

Starbucks aside, Welcome aboard Russ! I too enjoy your business reports on News 1130. Feel free to post biz info on the site anytime.
