Most of 'em I can figure out.
Clockwise from the front right it's Cal George, Bob McGavin, Bill Davis & Ron Robinson.
Across from Davis in the back row is Norris McLean.
The bald head above Davis would appear to be Neil Nisbet.
Who the mostly-hidden guy at the top of the back row is, has me stumped.

Any chance that it's Buddy Clyde [Hatton]?

Also...anyone recall John Hamilton when he was at WX?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

You mean Ross Crain worked out here.....the year I joined CKGM in Montreal, 1960, Ross Crain was at CFCF in Montreal.....he had a marvellous time hosting a summer daytime show....kids were phoning in requests...and Ross would play them and talk to the kids on air.....a great show.

Upon further review ... with an enlarged picture, thanks much ..it definitely is Ross Crain. Most of his time at CKWX he was hosting a concert show on the all-night shift (12-5 or 6) called Music Under the Stars.

I think they got the idea from the American Airlines concert show, also all-night, in major US markets.

Bill Davis left CKWX for KGW in Portland the same time Red did, so this dates the photo prior to Feb 1959. This rules out Buddy Clyde as he didn't join the WX lineup till Apr. 60. Red isn't in the shot, so he's either absent, or it pre-dates his arrival at WX in the Spring of 57. I only have the DJ lineups dating back to Sept 58. Assuming it's a DJ at all, my best guess is Ross Crain, but it's only a guess.

Hi Jim.
Thanks for your dates & input.
I know Ross .. and that definitely is his profile.
Don't know why it puzzled me earlier.

According to Vancouver Broadcasters, Ross had two periods at WX .. and this would have been early in the 2nd .. which the other site says began partway through 1956.

I forget when the move from Seymour to Burrard took place .. seems it was in 1956 .. and the 50,000 watts followed in 1957.

Can you confirm for me that Ross was indeed the same guy I knew in Montreal? A wonderful personality....very dry on air...but great to listen to.

Yeah, John, same guy. A quick trip to "Vancouver Broadcasters" shows absolute confirmation.
But I can save you the effort with this in verifying black & white.
