Just wondering...if there is anyone old enough out there that lived in Montreal in the late 1940's, early 50's. I remember a character playing the role of Uncle Troy, sponsored by Troy Cleaners. perhaps on CKVL. I never heard anything about this announcer. At the same time, on CFCF morning news, there was a "weatherman", Frank Edwards (?), sponsored by Pom.
Speaking of those years, does anybody have a copy of the promo booklet put out by CFCF about 1949-1950, concerning their program schedule upon moving to their new studios on Cote Des Neiges. I asked Gord Sinclair, ( the son) about it about a year before he died, but he couldn't remember it. It was then that I discovered that Charlie McCarthy was a dummy, and not a real person, by seeing the promo booklet. Radio was wonderful, wasn't it?
...and how to I put my location on the site...MONTREAL...?
