One of the most popular TV weathermen in Edmonton history has died.
John Berry, a true star on CFRN TV in the eighties and early nineties, passed away early today according to a family message on Facebook. It reads simply: "It is with sadness we announce that our beloved husband and father John Berry has gone to meet his Lord. Thank you for all your prayers. Mirna, Ashley, Heather and Nicole."
In recent years, John Berry was known as a celebrity cook. Early in his career, he was on the radio reporting live in Kenora, Ontario when a bank robber strapped with explosives blew himself up in May, 1973.

Dark clouds gathered during the night with word John Berry, who had bravely battled cancer for years, passed away. When he wasn't pitching the weather, John was whipping up gastronomical delights and may be as well known as a celebrity chef. He was also a tireless community worker until the cruel reality of his health took that away.
