John Oliver has passed along word that long time Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island broadcaster Bob Brown has passed away. Bob had been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. He started his broadcast career at Calgary's CHFM in the mid 1960s. He spent serveral years in Victoria, first at CKDA then then at CFAX where in addition to on-air work, he was Music Director. In 1980, Bob made the move to Richmond's brand new radio station, CISL 940 where he was Music Director and mid afternoon announcer. In the late 1980's Bob moved to Chilliwack and the new STAR FM where he was afternoon drive announcer and host of the Saturday evening Big Band Show "Swingin' On A Star".
Condolences to Bob's family and friends.
