Radio stations in Canada are racking in record profits as the result of a decade of ruthless cost cutting. Plundering and pillaging public airwaves for private profit at an unprecedented level. Using technology only to improve profits not service. The fault lies with a corrupt regulator, a complacent public and imbeciles willing to work for minimum wage. The broadcasters arrogance knows no bounds as they keep asking and getting more from the CRTC. Look for even more mergers in the name of "competitiveness" and the "threats from competeting technologies". Think Corus is big now? Wait until they merge with another radio outfit and start another round of cost cutting. Most Canadians are unaware of what is taking place because the same media conglomerates that own all the radio stations also own all the other media. Canadians like to think of themselves as superior to Americans but the reality is the level media concentration in Canada is much higher than in the US.
