Christmas arrives in Edmonton, Vancouver & Seattle

Postby radiofan » Tue Nov 12, 2019 5:32 pm

Seattle was first to light up the tree this year with both 94.1 The Sound and Warm 106.9 kicking into Christmas mode at noon on Veteran's Day (11/11).

Today, Stringray breezed Christmas to Vancouver and Edmonton on 104.3 The Breeze and 96.3 The Breeze

How many more will follow in the next 6 weeks?
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Thought the Chuck might've been first out of the gate in Edmonton. Friday maybe.

Maybe it's tougher with that new morning show.

The new morning show is no worse a fit with Christmas Music than with the regular Chuck music.

We're still 10 days away from US Thanksgiving and Vancouver has three stations pumping out Christmas music 24/7. Isn't this overkill and way too early? Even though they were a few weeks early, I guess The Breeze had nothing to lose by making the move last Tuesday hoping to grab some numbers from QM FM. Then on Friday, QM donned their gay apparel and decked the airwaves with non-stop Fa-La-La La La La La. Going across the dial earlier today, I noticed Pulse 107.7 has joined the party.

To my way of thinking, would it not have made more sense for The Breeze to stick with it's regular format in the hopes of grabbing QM listeners who don't want 24/7 Christmas tunes for 6+ weeks? Christmas music on QM has been a tradition in Vancouver for a lot of years now. 104.3 may have snagged a few listeners for a few days, but once again this year, QM FM will be the winner.

Maybe on Boxing Day, Stingray will bring back LG 104.3.
