I worked in several different markets, in both radio and t.v. from the late 70's thru the mid 90's.
I started out at CJDV in Drumheller in about '78 or so, John Eno was the morning guy. I did some jock shifts there, but mostly news and continued on in news from there on in......
Went to CHAB in Moose Jaw after that for a short while. Norman Jack was the N.D. at the time and Bob Price was also a news reader there.
Then I went back to my hometown (Calgary) and was hired by Ron Wood (N.D.) and Hal Gardner. I kinda got lucky there and landed the traffic job up in the Cessna 150, after Myke Thomas decided he wanted to do strictly promotions. Robbie Campbell was also reading news there at the time.
From there, went to CFAC 2&7 and went from the old house down near Elbow Drive to the brand new building which was opened I think in mid-81. Ted Arnold was the N.D. and newsreaders included Deb Lamb, Larry Day and Steve Abrams. I was hired as a reporter. Ed was doing the sports along with Jim Van Horne.
From there, went to CKRD in Red Deer for my first N.D. job....did morning news on radio and supper television news. Left there after six years to take on the ND job at Izzy's new digs in Saskatoon and stayed there until about '91.
Went to Winnipeg after that when Global expanded and opened bureaus across Canada.
Wont say why I left the biz but decided to go back to school and worked at 1290, doing news on the morning show while I went to University.
That's sort of a thumbnail of my involvement. It is sure nice to see a few familiar names bandied about. I have no desire to go back but enjoy the memories.
Thanks again all for approving me
