January Radio West Get Together

January Radio West Get Together

Postby radiofan » Thu Jan 03, 2008 10:40 pm

OK ... Christmas and New Years are now history.

Some folks are getting restless and have suggested it's time for another RadioWest.ca GTG.

A few different dates have been suggested, let us know what works best for you. Sundays in neighbourhood pubs can get somewhat loud in January with beer swilling fans watching bowl games.

Dates: Saturday January 19; Sunday January 20 or Saturday January 26.

Time: Noon til ???

Location: Marine Pub in Burnaby. Near the corner of Marine Drive and Gilley, just west of Byrne Road. Website.

If you need directions, ask here or email.

The location is Transit friendly. #100 "22nd Street Station" bus runs from the Airport/Marpole area east along Marine Drive. There is a stop almost at the door. From Skytrain get off at 22nd Street station and catch the #100 "Airport Station", there is a bus stop across the street from the pub.

As we discovered last June, the food is good and the place is central to most Greater Vancouver members.

If you plan to join us, please let us know...either by posting here or sending an email to: party@radiowest.ca .. just so we have a rough idea of how much space we will need.

Top Dog is having a birthday on the 19th, but will attend either weekend .. as long as he gets a birthday cupcake with a sparkler in it!

Hoping to see the regulars plus a bunch of new faces this time around!

PS -- You can come as yourself .. or as your screen name, we won't expose you!

I'll be there. If it were this Saturday I don't think you could pry me away from the Seahawks/Green Bay game. Good call!

Good to hear Neumann!

Looking forward to meeting up again.

Hopefully a few of your old CFUN cronies that are members here will make an appearance too!

Bring you bag of charts again .. and a scanner!

It looks like I'll be free that weekend, so I'll make my best effort to be there as well. I haven't been to one of these Internet get-togethers for years and years. The last one I went to was a Clipper programmer's GTG and you can imagine how much fun that was. At least I know that radio guys (and ladies) know how to empty a pint or two in a hurry. It would be nice to see some of the people I've worked with at CFUN/CKVN, CJAT, CKLG-FM/CFOX, CKPG and CJCI.

I think the problem is that the word "CAN" has so many different meanings.

In TD's case, it probably includes "can keep my breakfast down".

Or do dogs still only have one meal a day?

Jon - the above quote also has a number of meanings.

I think the answer to both might be NO.

To Russ Byth and all members who did not receive a personal invite from T.D for the get together on the 19th, please be assured that you're still welcome to attend.

Radiofan and I have arranged for a card table near the kitchen area for seating; the table extends out the door and roughly two blocks South down Marine Drive.

See you there!
