For us AM DX fanatics of the '60s in Vancouver, it was a cold quiet winter Monday morning, beginning shortly after midnight. Much of North America signed off for transmitter maintenance and a lot of foreign possibilities opened up.
Though it was shortly after sunset if you wanted Europe or Africa.
