I don't catch them all, but I have never seen an EKKO stamp sell for $60, let alone $99 U.S., as this WBZ/WBZA stamp just did. I was watching this one, as WBZ Boston was my favourite radio station in 1965, beating front runner WLS Chicago to playing the hits first. The 64-65 winter was especially good for long distance reception and I did my homework in Burnaby most evenings, listening to WBZ. On 1030 KHz, there was no other station in North America on the frequency at night.

EKKO stamps were printed by the millions in the late 1920s. And, despite their age, were considered valueless in the 1960s because so many were still "in circulation". The last 10 years has seen a slow increase in prices, though most still sell, if they sell at all, for less than $3.

Despite the fact that I started listening to WBZ in 1964, I never heard of WBZA until years later. It was a WBZ repeater in Springfield that only left the air two years earlier, in 1962.
