Double FUN with Peter Benson & Jack Casey!

Postby radiofan » Sun Apr 27, 2014 2:41 pm

While going thru a stack of old cassettes this morning, looking for goodies to digitize, I came across a 14 CFUN Vancouver gem from December of 1974 ... almost 40 years ago!

The first few minutes is Peter "Boom Boom" Benson and and his Sunday Night Graffiti Show complete with old CFUN 1960's PAMS jingles followed by Jack Casey in the midnight hour!

This is the mid 1970's sound of CFUN that I remember! Enjoy this trip down Rock and Roll Radio memory Lane ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Now that's radio!

Could you honestly imagine a Top 40 station in 2014 that has live jocks 24/7 AND live news 24/7? Do they have news after 9AM?

Programmers today who think radio listeners want nothing but wall to wall music and produced splitters have their heads up their butts.

The word we lived by was “UP”.

These two gents were two of my favs. Peter is still on the air - in New Mexico, I believe and Jack is living in Washington State and I am delighted to have kept in touch. Seeing him again in a few weeks, in fact. It makes me feel so good. To see such a good friend for over 40 years, makes me realize how LUCKY I am.

That was such a treat from a wonderful time and place in my life.

To hear that kind of energy on-air was delightful.

My sincere thanks for posting it.

Cheers old friends. I'm proud to know you, and even more so to have worked beside you at such a broadcast powerhouse.

Thank you Radiofan for digging the cassette out of your collection, digitizing it, and posting it on RadioWest for the members to enjoy. The chatter of the DJ's between each record only happened once and was then lost forever. The music is still here but many of the on air personalities are not.

If anybody has similiar tapes like the one Radiofan posted, now is the time to dig it out and share it while there are still some people who remember it and understand it.
We are running in, when everybody else is running out.

I wish I had kept tapes. I have ZERO.

NS said it all. It only happened once and it was over.

I also find that I miss the people I worked with, a TON.
