Jay Cousins Survived Car Crash on Way to Radio Job

Postby jon » Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:17 pm

On July 7th, 35 year old Jay Cousins was on his way from his home in Cape Breton (New Waterford, Nova Scotia) to a radio job in Red Deer, Alberta. It was a four day trip by car. He fell asleep at the wheel in Saskatchewan and ended up in a Regina hospital.

The car started to roll and he was thrown clear, out the passenger window and 50 feet through the air. Both of his feet are broken and he is currently paralyzed from the chest down. His family is working on getting him back to Nova Scotia for his long recovery, which includes another surgery in about a month from now to address his neck pain.

Jay is a recent graduate from the Radio-TV Arts program at Nova Scotia Community College and has already had a couple of radio gigs in the Maritimes.

The Red Deer job was what Jay had been working towards for years. Both he and his family are determined to see this through.
