80's in Edmonton!

Radio news from Alberta

Even though I lived here then, I didn't listen to CHED, so don't know for sure. Perhaps this was the period when sister station Power 92 took over Top 40 from CHED, leaving CHED to find another format. I've read elsewhere that CHED switched to Oldies. But MG-1200 owned the Oldies market, so CHED may have gone with earlier '80s material.

BAM! That was good, VanMan.

But I believe right before CHED adopted "Edmonton's Home of Rock & Roll" slogan and playing the Eagles, Beatles & Stones routinely that they played a softer range (earlier 80s), a la Rod Stewart. There was some ambiguity in what they were playing before they bared down. Power launched about 2 years after.
