While the TRS-80 was bargain priced for the time, and is responsible for getting a lot of people "into computers" earlier than they would have otherwise, it was really awful from a reliability point of view. Most notably, keyboard "bounce" was so bad that the software involved removed rapid repeats of the same character.

A lot of computer service companies made a healthy living fixing the venerable "Trash 80".

But the useful hardware it spawned! Radio Shack's Model 100 was a staple in a lot of newsrooms in the mid-to late 80s before luggables became laptops.

We even used to produce formatted-for-TV teleprompter copy straight from those versatile little wonders.
