Greetings Everyone,
Go ahead borrow as many exclamation marks as you want! I don't blame you for not wanting to buy lottery tickets from people screaming at you on tv. I consider the BC Lotteries Corporation the worst run lottery corporation in Canada! It has gone downhill big time with increased prices and getting rid of lottery games. They could be making good money with lottery sales by adding a 5 number lottery like so many USA states have had for 15 to 20 years but instead prefer to put all the emphasis on the casinos in B.C.. Lotteries are on the backburner in British Columbia and their promotion and sales efforts suck big time! They also have a crappy website which is awkward to use and no where near as friendly as in other parts of Canada like the prairies or Ontario! The USA state lottery websites are also much user friendlier and offer a fantastic selection of lottery games. In the state of West Virginia you only have to choose 6 numbers out of 25 to win a jackpot of 200,000 dollars! Prices in the USA are cheaper just as in Ontario and Atlantic Canada are. So to anyone not wanting to support the BC Lottery Corporation I completely understand. Under the Campbell/Clark provinicial government it has progressively downhill, even got rid of that nice Luck newspaper that British Columbia Lotteries had for years about a year ago! I am an avid lottery player (never play at casinos though) and my money goes towards lotteries in other parts of Canada where they are operated much better and offer cheaper prices and better selection!

Take care everyone, if you go on holidays buy some lottery tickets in Alberta or other parts of Canada. When I lived in Calgary in the 80s and early 90s I had very good luck with the lotteries there including scratch games.

When the price of a 6/49 ticket goes up to $3.00 in September, that is when I will stop buying tickets. Since going to $2, the wins are almost non-existant, at $3, they'll be even worse.

Why are you even buying lottery tickets? Was the guy doing the shouting claiming to be a deposed NIgerian prince?

Just to clear up some 'conclusion-jumping' that's been going on.
It was the Hometown Heroes Lottery, nothing to do the BCLC per-se... and it was a woman doing the shouting. I think she works at City TV

The Ontario Lottery (OLG) spots have been quite tolerable over the years.
Indeed, Lotto 6-49 prices are rising to 3 dollars-a-holler in September. Besides a few other tweaks - bigger corollary pools, I believe - there will be whatever the main prize is plus a guaranteed million-dollar winner twice a week. I suspect those of us who play will get used to it.
I do really well with online Texas Hold 'Em - no "tells" and pretend money, of course.
