Mike Winlaw dead at 76

Postby radiofan » Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:13 pm

According to posts on his Facebook page, longtime Vancouver TV personality Mike Winlaw passed away in his sleep on September 29th in Kelowna.

Mike spent 13 years with CBC Vancouver as a news anchor and then a regular on the CBC-TV show Hourglass. After his time at the CBC, Mike wanted a change of pace. He moved on to what was then CKVU TV (today it's CITY-TV) as one of the three hosts on The Vancouver Show along with Pia Shandel and Laurier LaPierre.

So sorry to hear about Mike's passing.
Didn't know he was here in the Okanagan.
As eluded to, he was certainly a guy who knew when it was time to move on.
I remember on one Vancouver Show, they came back from a commercial break and he said goodbye to Pia and Wayne Cox, who was also part of the show by then, and walked off the set.
Sympathies to his family and friends.
Houston, We're dealing with morons!.

Great broadcaster and incredibly articulate, I always felt Mike made it look so easy he was under appreciated.

I hope he is remembered for what he was. Professional and big time.

RIP and condolences to his Family and friends. I used to like "The Vancouver Show" and actually wound up doing interviews for the show. Frank Zappa was interesting.
LOL.

Goodbye, Mike.
