CITY Vancouver News at 6

Postby Howaboutthat » Mon Sep 03, 2018 7:47 pm

So I watched the first 10 minutes.
Kept waiting for an 'official' opening.
Kept waiting for an anchor or 2.
Kept waiting for someone to come on and explain the new program.
Never happened.
What I saw were stories by video journalists back to back with 'coming up' in between.
Did I not wait long enough for the actual newscast to begin?
Did anyone do weather on-screen?
Maybe I'm an old fart, but it was too disjointed for me so unless I'm told otherwise, I won't be back. Seems like a really cheap way to put a newscast together.
I like Breakfast Television, but other than that, I don't watch any local news on any channel.
Houston, We're dealing with morons!.

I watched part of it. I didn't realize they had just sandwiched video clips together...I thought the young-ish British guy was the anchor. It definitely had a RightThisMinute TV show feel to it, but it wasn't terrible. I'd watch it again, over the abysmal CBC Vancouver News (they've gutted their local news reporting and anchor teams), CHEK TV News, and Global Okanagan. CTV News Vancouver and CTV News Vancouver Island are improving now, but it depends who is anchoring. An anchor can make or break the newscast and, in City's case, that British guy is better than (most) of the B.C.-based TV anchors, save for maybe Scott Roberts and Joe Perkins.

Cheers,
Doug
