Great story on the round-the-clock effort being put in by KXMC-TV in Minot, where a quarter of the city is flooded. I've been checking in with the coverage via UStream, and the station is a real lifeline. Sorry to see that local radio, rather than making its own effort, has just thrown in the towel there and is simulcasting the TV coverage. I think it would be a different story in many Canadian markets.

Well that station IS Minot on tv. There is a ridiculously under budgeted NBC station there as well as a verrry small ABC station. KX's work during this flood is beyond belief and they should be applauded in every way possible. Meanwhile, two Saskatchewan cities-Weyburn and Estevan, no more than three hours north, have suffered serious flood damage but the only footage we see is at the mercy of the Regina-based tv stations.
Draw your own conclusions about this sorry situation when it comes to media in Canada.
