With the launch of Sonic 104.9 in Vancouver, there were jokes going around about Astral and Rogers doing a joint venture station called Sonic Boom.

Sorry to disappoint the jokesters, but the name has already been taken. For a Modern Rock festival in Edmonton.

Check it out for yourself:

It just happened a week ago.

I recently picked up a book about the Seattle music scene from the 60s to the 90s and it's called Sonic Boom.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

It's a very good book, as is his other Washington music book, "Music In Washington: Seattle and Beyond". It's from Arcadia Publishing as part of their "Images Of America" series. It's 127 pages of photos that dovetails excellently with "Sonic Boom".
