VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - They may be catchy, but you just might find your favourite tunes of the 80s on the list of that decade's worst songs.

A poll from Rolling Stone magazine has named 'We Built This City' by Starship the worst song of the 1980s.
Rolling Stone says it topped their list by a long-shot, easily pulling in more votes than Europe's 'The Final Countdown.'

Top 10 List:

1 - Starship - 'We Built This City'
2 - Europe - 'The Final Countdown'
3 - Chris De Burgh - 'Lady In Red'
4 - Wham! - 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'
5 - Men Without Hats - 'The Safety Dance'
6 - Falco - 'Rock Me Amadeus'
7 - Bobby McFerrin - 'Don't Worry Be Happy'
8 - Toni Basil - 'Mickey'
9 - Taco - 'Puttin' On The Ritz'
10 - Rick Astley - 'Never Gonna Give You Up'

I see but one cancon song and it's one of three that probably, maybe, shouldn't appear on a worst songs list.
No Air Supply?
No Michael Bolton?
No MIlli Vanilli?
Would it be politically incorrect to mention "We Are The World" ?

I heard this on KGO this morning and wondered why Bobby McFerrin wasn't #1?

Along with some of the stuff NS mentioned, there should have been at least one Corey Hart on the list along with a whole lot of others.

Agreeing with Russ, some of these were actually good tunes!
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

My guess is that these are the most overplayed songs of the '80s today. Even "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" got hard to listen to when you had to play it every 3 hours. And don't get me started on "Hey Jude" or "Let It Be".

When one considers the rap of today the music listed above isn't so bad. At least one could understand the lyrics at least there was music behind the artist. I think the "Jackson song book" was over played in the 80's like the titles listed above one could get tired if his body of work as well. Even ABBA, popular now in a movie and musical was played to death. and let us not forget the CAN-CON component of the radio mix....
