Today (Hallowe'en) seems to be the only day of the year when I hear "Season of the Witch", a song that was a fixture on CKLG-FM and other album cut-oriented stations of the late 1960s. Not that any one version was played that often, but there were just so many versions. Donovan, of course, wrote it and has perhaps the best known version. Wikipedia even credits his version as being one of the first psychedelic songs, since he released his first version in September 1966.
Today, I heard both Donovan's version and Brian Auger's version, which I was also familiar with. The vocalist on Brian's version is Julie Driscoll, and it is from 1967.
