Wes Dakus dead at 75

Postby radiofan » Sat Aug 31, 2013 9:38 pm

Sorry to read about the passing of Edmonton musician Wes Dakus. Wes Dakus & The REbels had several early 1960's hits and as Wes Dakus & The Club 93 Rebels, they were the CJCA Radio house band.

DAKUS, Wes
With deep sadness, it is advised that Wesley Raymond Dakus (April 2, 1938 - August 18, 2013) passed away peacefully in Vancouver and has gone back to his first love – MUSIC. Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Anne. Survived by Caryl Swityk Dakus, his wife and "forever friend", his sister, Kerryl Young, and his brothers (Jack, Paul, Marvin and Rodney), and by Mavis Vaugeois. Many thanks to all nursing and medical staff who treated him so kindly at Vancouver General Hospital and Windermere Care Centre. Private memorials will be held, and a "Celebration of Life" in Edmonton (October) will be announced later and on Facebook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

RIP Wes!!! Remember as a kid growing up in Revelstoke, when Wes Dakus and the Rockin' Rebels came to town.. it was a big deal!!
And he and the band weren't much older than, uh.. us!!
