Daughter Ordered To Pay Up In Piracy Case
A federal judge has filed a default judgment against MICHELLE SANTANGELO, ordering her to pay $30,750 to record labels -- $750 for each of the 41 songs she is accused of downloading illegally -- because she did not respond to the recording industry's case against her, the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS reports.

MICHELLE is the daughter of PATRICIA SANTANGELO, who was sued in 2005 by five record companies but argued that she never downloaded music and that, if her children did, the blame should fall on the file-sharing companies and not parents. The case against PATRICIA was dropped, but the record labels then went after MICHELLE and her brother, ROBERT, although no default judgment has been issued against ROBERT.
