Snowbirds

Postby PMC » Thu Apr 23, 2015 10:58 pm

Every year the Canadian Snowbirds arrive to practice their aero show. It is a treat to see. They do a show in Comox this Saturday and then go off on their tour.

This year they put a camera under the first plane, and made a video that is sweet to watch.

PMC that is a visually stunning video... gives one a rush ...can't imagine what it would be like to fly stunts like that....

In the Chilliwack there is drama in the air (or should I say on the ground)...

"Super Dave" Mathieson a air show pilot has been grounded by Transport Canada ...
Here is his facebook page;

Any kind of aircraft is noisy... the Chilliwack airport must have other jet craft that come and go all year... don't know why Super Dave is being targeted for a couple of weeks... in the Comox Valley, the arrival of the snowbirds, says spring is here. Watching and hearing them buzzing over town is enjoyed by many. Every kid, and every adult that remembers being a kid, loves to see the aerobatics. When watching the video, click the lower right button to get it full screen... on a 40 inch monitor and two feet from the screen, it is like being there or as TS said, a real rush...

PMC, The Chilliwack airport is a small uncontrolled municipal airport - to my knowledge no jets seam to come or go from here.

As for "Super Dave" - it appears that the noise complaints come from someone or a group of people who are unhappy for what ever reason with his twice daily 12 minute practice runs over the air field. (This is the information he imparted in a Thursday interview on local radio station CHWK 89.5.)
He is following up with Transport Canada to try and reverse their discussion.
CWK has a petition on their website - They are asking listeners to sign it and express their support for the flyer.
If I heard correctly, the radio station petition will be forwarded to transport Canada in support of "Super Dave".

Super Dave could use some more media to get some promotion of this... considering what this site is.... Global Tv & BC1... NW and others... perhaps get him a better location... keep all options open etc.

The video for this was redone for 4K. Looks much better on larger screens.

I also hope the audio track that is used gets airplay... a great tune to go with the video.
