Anne Murray takes fans on nostalgic trip
Amy O'Brian, Vancouver Sun
Published: Tuesday, May 06, 2008

"Murray pulled out her signature hit, Songbird, at the end of the acoustic set to great applause and cheering from the polite and reserved audience."

I hope this lady is not the music critic for the Sun or the typesetter was mistaken (they dont have typesetters any more)

Songbird? I love that snow.

It just means she's likely part of a generation that never grew up with interminable listenings to it from the turntables of MOR jocks. How fortunate are the young people of today.

Some of us maintain our youthful appearance.

And others move to Oliver.

Apparently they don't have editors anymore either, but - as the kids say - it's all good.

Were you to say that to a Senior Citizen who has spent their life in Edmonton, they would get a totally different meaning.

As a latecomer (I arrived in 1975), my understanding is that Alberta Hospital used to be located in the Oliver area of Edmonton, just West of Downtown. It, now as then, cares for the most severely mentally handicapped.

I happened to open this morning's 24 Hours wherein a headline used the word "illusive" when it was pretty clear it should have been "elusive."

I think I won dinner at the Oliver A&W.

What's happened to the prizes we won?

I think we should complain to the Mayor of Oliver.
Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Mike could you pick up Teddie on your way through Burnaby. Depending on your rent-a-wreck he might want to take the Blue Cat to the Okanagan

Breakfast is served early - bring sleeping bags for the lawn
and don't even think of picking up Jbennie - he is so 'illusive' no one knows him but the ambulance crews.

He must not like beer and burgers like the rest of us older types

Aha! We ARE going to get our contest prizes! I guess that complaint letter to the CRTC must have done some good. We're all glad you have finally decided to comply with the Broadcasting Act and CRTC regs regarding these contests.

Checklist for road trip to Oliver:

1. need to fill the fuel tank on the Nash Rambler with patchouli oil - being the enviromentally friendly types here in the Goofy Islands, we don't allow gasoline here. Period

2. Install new drive-belt and tighten capstan roller on the Muntz 8-track player

3. Steal some ferry tickets out of some little ol' lady's car

4. Pick up the boys on the mainland

5. purchase several 6-packs of Lucky Lager for our host. Nah...never mind - we'll drink these on the way up

radiofan: remember to bring that freebie A&W coupon...our host is likely too cheap to give us dinner

Jim B: bring earplugs or your own iPod so you don't have to listen to radiofan and I singing along to the 8-track

TD - we expect you to provide some snake repellent for the overnighter on your front lawn 8-)
