Cogeco shuts down CJTS 104.5 Sherbrooke

Postby Dan Sys » Tue Dec 06, 2011 10:10 am

Cogeco pulled the plug on CJTS (Souvenirs Garantis 104.5) in Sherbrooke this morning after claiming no one was interested in purchasing the station. When Cogeco purchased the Corus properties in Quebec last year they had one year to divest this station and two others in Quebec City as they breached the CRTC's common ownership policy.

The Quebec City stations were sold last week, but it seems odd that nobody would want a 50,000 watt FM station in Quebec's 3rd largest market.

Radio business must be blowing chunks in PQ City.
License to make money?
Maybe not so much.

I guess it depends how you interpret the situation, but the Cogeco press release stated that "no offer that met the criteria set forth
by the trustee was acceptable".

What does that mean?
