(CRTC) CLASSIC ROCK STATION COMING TO PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE, MANITOBA

Golden West received approval today to delete the existing CFRY 920 and CFRY-1 93.1 simulcast in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and convert CFRY-1 93.1 to a local Classic Rock station.

The technical parameters will remain unchanged at 27,000 watts (average & maximum ERP). Antenna height will be 73.5 metres (EHAAT) with a non-directional radiation pattern. The call letters will become CFRY-FM.

CFRY 920 will remain on the air and continue broadcasting the existing Country format.

Thanks for mentioning this Shawn. Glad that CFRY 920 Portage La Prairie is to remain on AM with their local country format. I heard it coming to Ontario when we passed through Manitoba. Like the local programming, farm news, local info. and country format. Also I still want to get it out in Langley, British Columbia. I have heard it several times in the Cobourg, Ontario area on my extended visit while dxing here. Was real pleased at that as CKNX 920 Wingham comes in quite well at night too. Fortunately you can null them some though. Hope the dx is going well for all of you this fall. If you get a chance would love to hear how your dxing is going this fall in Manitoba Shawn. I know Toomas and others have been reporting some great dx on Radio West recently.
