Now we have a SPUD FM.

CJRW 102.1 in Summerside-Charlottetown, PEI dumped their Country format on Friday to become Classic Rock SPUD FM:

Will this be the new wave of radio station brandings.....fruits & vegetables?

Also in PEI SPUD FM's sister CFCY in Charlottetown has made the flip from 630 to 95.1 (the format remains Country). This now means that Prince Edward Island has the distinction of being the only province in Canada without any AM stations:

Dan,

If they didn't have a Web site (i.e. - spelled out), I'd be questioning you to check if you hadn't been confused by their accent. I'd be saying, "Dan, are you sure it isn't STUD-FM?" That would seem more the norm for Classic Rock stations, at least here in Edmonton, based on the style of humour on morning shows on The Bear and K-Rock.

And, yes, I know all about P.E.I's red earth and the number of potatoes they grow.

Heaven help us if Taber, Alberta, ever gets a station. CORN-FM???

Hmmmm, maybe Mr. Pattison will read this and flip B93 in Taber to CORN-FM. After all they haven't really made a splash in the Lethbridge BBM's to date.

Maybe Aldergrove will get a HEMP-FM. That would accurately reflect the most lucrative agricultural crop in this area.
