Those that live in glass houses....

We all stink when we start. No way I would have ever hired me. That first tape is in a safe deposit box whenever my ego needs a little grounding. Before firing judgment on talent in single station markets who are likely 2 years or less on the air....perhaps a look inward may be in order.

Oh, it sucks for sure. And in 10 years I'll listen to stuff I'm doing now and I'll say "wow, that was awful, what is that?", but that said... I don't know, call me politically incorrect or whatever, but you wouldn't hire a man with no arms as a lumberjack would you? You might find that one guy out there that can chop wood with his head (or perhaps some other part of his body) but for the most part, it's a job they can't do. If you have a really annoying voice as the original poster had initially posted about, or other issues speaking, then you shouldn't be speaking on air. You could work in some other area of the station but there's certain things you can't change (or can but it's really really difficult), and a shrill, nasally, piercing voice is one of those things.
