A few observations on the AM side:

- The return of hockey has not supercharged TEAM 1040 ratings. Perhaps if the Canucks get past the first round, that pre lockout fervour that gripped the city will return. Many folks have learned to live without it.

- I would also like to see the afternoon numbers at 1040 and compare them with the Pratt & Taylor days.

- It would appear that CKNW bleeding listeners to CBC Radio One is now a well-established trend. Is it possible that younger listeners who are looking for information either want it quick (NEWS 1130) or toned down without ads?

- If there is a chance for NW to win listenership back, surely it must be in this next election cycle.

- It looks like CISL has dropped into the abyss of neglect and irrelevance.

- 1410... 0.3? Can you say fart in the wind? I'm sure the Vancouver Giants are thrilled with their new arrangement.

It's the overall number, so all of it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

WX removes the commercial break at the 5 minute mark and magically regain the points they lost during the last cycle. Amazing how no one would figure that one out beforehand.

Look at QM FM! All mighty and on top.

I think it's time for Shore to find a format that might attract a few more listeners. I'm sure potential buyers have the blueprints ready.

CISL is on life support. Again, maybe a new owner can pump some blood and promo dollars into this skeleton of a once respectable station. Or maybe they'l just shut it down.

Corus should have spent time time and effort retooling CFOX, not CFMI.

Look whats happened to JACK and JR after dumping high profile on-air people.

Sonic's Million Dollar morning show hasn't performed any better than the low budget FUN FM. Virgin and Beat are both strong. Sonic isn't a factor in the Top 40 arena.

All Christmas added to QM's strength.

NW is now more than two full shares behing CBU. How much longer until some house cleaning happens at the Black Tower?

As for 1410, it doesn't matter what their numbers are. Giants and Lions fans know where to find them.

How long will they let the Peak underperform like that? They have a fresh music format and very little competition, yet they can't even get close to the other FM music stations. Is it the air talent?

Sonic is a disaster. The days of CKNW being a market leader are done.

If KISS -FM had stayed the course - they would still be on the air and making millions - bit no.

Jack is a mess.

Shore-FM may as well sign off.

It's a sign of the times. People are using media differently.

Pass my Iphone....here's an app that tunes stations from all over the world. Tunedin.

In fairness, regarding Fustercluck's comments regarding 1040, this ratings period would only have hockey for the second half of it. Not entirely sure how that would affect the overall ratings, but it would have an impact. But I agree, curious how their afternoon ratings are now compared to before.

And we keep bringing up CKNW, but it's the same old story - the oldtimers are getting older, and NW isn't attracting new listeners. Of course, the question as we all now, is how do they change that?

I think 1040 was definitely hurt by the lack of hockey in the first half....but I too am looking forward to seeing a breakdown on the afternoons. I think the 2-6 show on 1040 is just not as edgy and entertaining as it used to be. Maybe they should put Dave Pratt on in the afternoon drive slot at NW.

Uh, soon to be ex-Premier Snooki won't be welcomed back to the dark tower.
She managed to burn every bridge she had there by criticizing those who criticized her lame attempt at being a politician.

Greetings Everyone,
I see CBU 690 up there in the Vancouver ratings! Thats good they do offer an interesting listening experience and some good local information. Regarding NW 98 they do offer local programming but in my opinion some of the talk show hosts are not as interesting as in the past, in fact some of them are quite bland! I agree with you Mike I don't think Twisty Clark, that great all-time Premier of British Columbia has a hope in you know what at getting back at NW 98 but we shall see!!! What do you think Dan??? Maybe I should not have asked you that! Dan had a very interesting photo of a Blowfish with Twisty's photo next to it!!!

Regarding CKPM, I am absolutely shocked beyond belief that no ratings for this new format breaking explosive station!!! Gee I was almost sure they would have made the top 5! On second thought however maybe I will agree with you on this Former TV Guy! Is this a blessing in disguise! :yahoo

I am with Michael - Snooki is done at CKNW and so are a lot of other people, they just don't know it yet.

Watch for a big ht when they move. The new BRIGHT CKNW will have a new lineup. Bill, Simi and poor Jill and a few others are going to be in a new line of work. Bill will retire gracefully. He must have more money than Latremouille.

The station that really blew it was CISL. They could have kept on, but they chickened out.

Don't know why everyone keeps thinking a change is coming to NW.

They've been in steep decline for years, something should have been done by now.
