Gary Lockwood's Police Blotter on KJR

Postby radiofan » Thu Aug 06, 2009 9:42 pm

On of the highlights of Gary Lockwood's show on KJR was "Police Blotter" ...When Lockjock was doing PM Drive it hit the air at 4:45 .. Everyday at 4:44 there was a bunch of folks rushing to their cars in the CKNW parking lot to fire up the radio and catch Police Blotter. Someone on the Seattle Radio-Info Board found this classic aircheck from December of 1981 on You Tube when Gary was doing mornings on KJR. From 28 years ago here's Gary Lockwood, B.R. Bradbury and Debbie Deutsch having some fun on the radio ...

People on air having fun and damn near pissing themselves wouldn't be allowed today.

The talent that went through KJR was unbelievable.

I hope Debbie has kicked the Marlboro habit. She's damn near choking to death.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Animal Stories

Postby jon » Fri Aug 07, 2009 8:55 am

Is it just me or does anyone else get immediately reminded of (former KJR DJ) Larry Lujack's Animal Stories series?

To get you in the mood, here is a TV commercial for it:

And here is a mini-production someone did, with Larry talking about the series, then a couple of actual episodes:

Animal Stories Still Live!

Postby jon » Fri Aug 07, 2009 2:54 pm

Animal Stories are not dead. At least, not in Edmonton.

Click here to hear a couple of Animal Stories aired to CHED during the Noon News today.

The previous story, read by Eileen Bell, was a good lead-in, as it was about a guy in Florida accused of viewing Pornography on the Internet. In court, he claimed that his cat was left alone with the computer when he left the room. And it must have been the cat that was surfing the web, looking at Pornographic images.

Hey, it's Friday. And News Director Bob Layton is on vacation.

P.S. - a British newspaper ran the Cat Pornography story with the following great tag line: "No word on any charges against the cat."
