1610 tonight

Interesting sounds on 1610 tonight. Heard bits of Gene Scott on the Caribbean Beacon in parallel with 6090. Just a few moments ago I heard one of CHHA's distinctive musical stings. Could be an fun night.

Greetings,
Good luck Toomas on 1610 AM DX tonight and this week of April 2013. Hope you hear some great dx. We had short but strong thunderstorm about 11 PM Eastern Time Monday night, April 8th, 2013. It knocked the power out in parts of Peterborough, Ontario and caused for a delay of the CHEX TV 11 PM Local News by about 10 minutes, causing them technical difficulties and possible equipment problems. The transmitter remained on-air but it appeared problems at the downtown area studios in Peterborough. It was only about 5 or 6 degrees Celsius here which is just above 40 degrees F. so kind of strange having a thunderstorm with cool temperatures!

Anyway I tried the AM Band on the Grundig 450 and it was crash boom bam on alot of the AM Broadcast Band for close to half an hour. Has quieted down now though. So might try some dxing overnight here, might try listening for 950 CFAM Altona and others. A few weeks ago I had a weaker signal from Caracas again on 750 but not as strong as Christmas Day evening 2012. WSB 750 Atlanta was way down in the mud for about an hour again.

Take care everyone, 73s Eldon

Last night didn't prove to be too interesting. 1610 wasn't exceptional after all. Instead, I heard an ESPN station on 820 while trying to hear Hamilton, which may have been KCBF Fairbanks.

I woke up at 05:30 PDT and found a lot of carriers from the Far East. Finally heard the Korean Jammer on 1053 making a very interesting sound suitable for a 50's science fiction movie! I came across a very strong carrier on 1323 which provided a few seconds of voice before fading out, couldn't make out the language though; lots of splatter from 1320 on this one!

Hoping tonight will be better...
