It's been a long few weeks with nothing much happening DX-wise on mediumwave; it's pretty dire when even Japan isn't showing up. Recent reports of longwave from Russia had me listening on 279 kHz. Last night nothing was heard from Russia but there was a wee small signal that just made it past the upper edge of the filter I was using on single sideband. It was the morse code ID for beacon DUT in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, transmitting on 283 kHz. That's on Unalaska Island in the middle of the Aleutian Islands. Cool!
