Transmitter troubles this morning have News 1130 operating at low power (assuming it's the back up TX at the studio location on Ash Street.

Very weak signal in South Burnaby with 1130 from Oregon owning the frequency (with the radio positioned properly).

Also, 1120 KPNW from Eugene is like a local as is CHRB 1140 High River @ 7:45 AM PDT.

The signal is now somewhat stronger, not the usual 50k but much stronger than it was for the past while.

On my South Surrey to Guildford commute, in addition to KPNW and CHRB that radiofan heard, I also got IDs on KGEM 1140 Boise and KRDU 1130 Dinuba, CA.

Wish I'd noticed it a little earlier while it was still dark out.

Greetings,
Sounds interesting, wish I had been out there to try dxing 1130 in Langley. Don't think I have noticed CKWX 1130 go down very often over the years! By the way Dial Twister getting KRDU Dinuba, California is a good dx catch, have never heard them. Did you get their programming format? Used to be kind of easy listening from an old playlist I got many years ago.

All the best. Oh just a reminder KCKM 1330 Monahans , Texas is doing a DX test this weekend so you might try for it. They will be running 10,000 watts non-directional with code, voice ids etc. Normal format is country and its all local independent owned station!

As a DX'er in the '60s, I don't ever remember CKWX being off the air. If I ever heard them with lower power, I didn't notice so it was at least 5000 watts.

A Seattle DX friend was wondering why 1134 KHz was so good for Trans-Pacific signals this morning. CKWX normally causes interference.

CKWX appeared to be back to full power by 8:00 PDT.

Their initial tweet that there wwas TX probs was sent at 6:50AM.

The low powered back up TX at the Rogers building on Ash Street I heard is located about 18 km west of me. Dan Sys couldn't pick up that signal out in Aldergrove.

Fwiw, I listened to 1130 this afternoon up here in the valley... it had alot of static noise in the signal... tonight it is very clear, no static, and the power difference can be heard. The staff working on air were great, tight in their presentation etc.

Yesterday morning, I traveled via ferry for med appts in Duncan & got to check out 1130 on the SUV radio sitting on an open deck ferry with steel decking heading west. CKWX was barely audible & KQRR was loud. Between 7:30-8:15 KPNW 1120 was in the clear, also CHRB. There were 2 other signals mixing on 1140 - presumably one of them was KGEM. The other was sports KHTK Sacramento. I heard their legal ID around 8 am just under CHRB. Returning home late afternoon CKWX seemed to be back to full power - or at least stronger than it had been in the morning.
