An obscure DX question.

Notice that the KBOY chart says that the station doesn't sign on until 6:30 a.m. that September of 1967. Obviously, they are a daytimer, based on the 7:30 p.m. signoff.

Wasn't 1967 before the FCC changed the rules for daytimers, forcing them to not sign on until sunrise? And, even then, most were granted Pre-Sunrise Authority (PSA) with lower wattage.

Admittedly, 6:30 a.m. might have been early enough to signon if you weren't serving any/many listeners who had to be at work at 7 a.m. or earlier.

I distinctly remember an Idaho station that really flaunted the old rules, signing on at 4:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, even in the winter, even though they were only a few miles from the Pacific time zone boundary, making it 3:30 a.m. PST.

Years ago, I estimated that, on December 21st, they'd be on the air for at least 4 1/2 hours before sunrise, which must have created a huge problem for other stations on the frequency, especially during the critical Morning Show period.
