Fresno's KYNO, then 1300 KHz, is where Much More Music/Boss Radio began in the mid-1960s with Bill Drake, Ron Jacobs and Dave McCormick.

The new '60s rock 'n' roll format for KYNO (AM 1430) has launched and completes the transition that moved the sports talk programming of KFIG at AM 1430 to the 50,000-watt 940 AM.

The new KYNO format is based on the playlists heard on KYNO in the '60s when its new Top-40 programming was known as "Boss Radio."

Mike Haggerty reports in reelradio.com that "Owner John Ostlund says he found a list of 340 records that hit #1 between 1955 and 1970 in the station's archives and that will be the starting library. There are no plans for jocks, just those records (presumably more added later) and the original Johnny Mann jingles (well, the ones that don't mention frequency...the call letters are now assigned to 1430 AM). Actually, playing nothing but former #1records allows them to play the "KY-NO Number One" jingles with a straight face."
