Somehow this got overlooked. Paddy Roy Bates, one of the pioneers of British pirate radio (and certainly it's most colorful character) passed away this past Tuesday. Good story coverage here from the NPR site. BTW, this is precisely the sort of "fat" Mr. Romney proposes to trim should he be elected.
