Drew Burns of The Commodore, left us Sept. 27th

Postby Tom Jeffries » Wed Oct 01, 2014 2:39 pm

Drew Burns was the Commodore as much as the Commodore was Drew Burns.

That explains the huge outpouring of affection after the news of his sudden death at home broke. (He passed Sept.27th)

The consensus has been overwhelming: Burns was, inarguably, one of the good ones.

Born in Winnipeg, he set the tone for the rise of the Commodore."

On a personal note: Julie and I are very sad about this. Drew was always so good to us. Oh my gosh - the memories. I could fill a book.

Part of our collective entertainment history has left.

Thanks for being part of our life, Drew.

Trust Bruce Allen to say it so well: Listen to his touching and heartfelt tribute to Drew Burns - from today's Reality Check, on CKNW.

This is a reminder that Red Robinson has the RPM Luncheon, next Tuesday, at the Georgia Street, White Spot. Noon. It is always wonderful to so many old friends and co-workers.

Tom

Thanks for the reminder about this. Myself and a bunch of old radio buddies have wanted to attend one of these for ages, but seem to miss out. I'll spread the word.

See you Tueday.
