It might improve the speed of getting to work but the number
of accidents in the sky would be a bit much for traffic reporters....

The article states that they are intended to fly no more than 10 feet off the ground, because more height than that requires a pilot's license.

Have you ever stopped to look at how many obstructions there are between 6-10 feet off the ground? Overpasses, overhead power/phone/cable lines, you name it. Even so-called "+15's" -- pedways, often have substructure under them that these things might hit. There just is not a lot of air space between a tall truck and a low overpass.
