Stephen Harper : Patron Saint of Taxpayers

Postby Glen Livingstone » Sun Jul 02, 2006 8:28 am

Did anyone take one blind bit of notice when the 1 % GST decrease took effect yeterday?

I had forgotten all about it until this morning when I stopped at Starbucks for my morning coffee and it cost 2 cents less than it had the day before.

What a pleasant surprise.

I guess I'll toss the pennies into my piggy bank.

They'll help to offset my 9 % property tax increase that's due on July 4th.

Thank you Stephen f**king Harper.

Can put you down as a non-supporter of the Conservatives? :P
The problem is that no matter who's in power they figure out new ways of fleecing us and then pi**ing away the dough. See post regarding AVR. The GST cut is a bit of a joke considering that if you spend $20,000 a year on goods and services you save a whopping 200 bucks. Wonder if the price of gas went down after the cut? The only think about the Conservatives is that atleast we got the 200 bucks, unlike the Libs who would have put it in a small paper bag and sent it to Quebec.

Not necessarily as the goof raised the tax on alcohol by 1% yesterday.

Maybe someone told young Stephen that the tax on alcohol (and smokes ) is called a 'sin' tax. He's big on loving the sinner but hating the sin. Expect to pay even more for your guilty pleasures in the future.
