More "Limp Dick" (tm) games charges for taxpayers.

The Feburary boondoggle that wasn't going to cost taxpayers anything until the cost overruns hit the athlete's village seems to add new costs for ordinary residents every day.
First, it was higher rates at downtown parking meters, to replace lost revenue from parking meters that will be out of commission during the games.
Next, Translink triples parking lot taxes.
Now, Translink is adding a five dollar surcharge for passengers using the Cannabis Line from YVR.
Gotta pay for this "Limp Dick" (tm) toy somehow.
And all those "No Stopping/No Parking" signs and banners going up on every pole have gotta cost a bundle, along with the wages of city staff who are putting up the things.
Now, there's a "drive less" flashing sign at the south end of the Burrard Bridge and Abbott Street has been closed to traffic along with First Avenue and the bike/pedestrian path along the south side of False Creek.
We're being inconvenienced and taxed so a bunch of fat cat caviar sucking champagne guzzling corrupt thieves can further line their already overstuffed pocketbooks.
And they'll be getting all of this for free, part of the bribe to bring this circus here in the first place, while we watch the cost of the thing balloon almost daily.
Remember Montreal?
They finally paid off their owelimpdick debt just last year.
Any predictions as to how long it will take us to pay for this one?

The fun part of any credible prediction is that none of us will be around to know whose prediction was closest. :tail

More evidence that the "Limp Dick" (tm) games will continue to pick our pockets for years to come:

I think we need more of this style of writing around here.

What caught my eye was these two lines from the start and end of the article:
  1. "...the $900-million Olympic security budget."
  2. "The original budget for security for the 2010 Games was $175 million."
Has anyone every justified to the public the 414% increase? Why does it suddenly cost 5 times more to be as safe as "we" would have been under the original security budget?

More important, who approves all these budget increases? What would happen if "they" said "No"? Would the Olympics be cancelled?

This whole thing sounds like someone who says he will replace your roof for $100, rips off your old roof, and then insists that you have to pay him his new rate of $10,000 or he won't put on a new roof.

Pretty much everyone knew that the original quote was out to lunch considering what the budget was in Torino, so that when the 'real' cost was announced, the general reaction was 'that's what it should have been at first'.
Houston, We're dealing with morons!.

How much money they have cost us, the evils which have never happened.
