Blue, Red or Orangy-Pink

Media consultant Marcella Munro said it best of Harper's government:

"We are one clown away from a Fellini film."

As Dan opines:
You are a god damn idiot Pave !!!

I couldn't have said it better myself - especially if I was Dan.

And why would he comment here as, in his own words:
"....Can't you guys find an audience somewhere else? After all, this is supposed to be a radio board."

Further, if anyone thinks a country should be run by socialists, cynics and/or wet-behind-the-ears amateurs, they are quite free to add that to any number of other, limiting delusions.

I am reminded also that Jack's leverage - what there is - lies in La Belle Province - not necessarily a bad thing, but a whole new wrinkle with lots of challenges attached.

I hope Jack stays healthy and motivated. Uniting the Left would also be a healthy enterprise that would add vigour to the political landscape.

As to being an idiot: I have friends who might even agree, but I don't know Dan well enough to be offended.

Gawd, but I love this country and do admire the wisdom of the electorate.

Pave: You are bang on! The country can now move forward. Left-leaning readers who are not aware that Harper and Layton are friends (as sharp politicians usually are), should have picked up on that fact from any of last night's broadcasts. BTW: CTV and CBC = major ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Global was pretty good!

I'll agree with isthisthingon's last sentence. Mansbridge, for the 10 seconds I watched CBC, almost put me to sleep. IMO ctv had the best graphics package, but panelists were annoying.

Although I hold no spite for the NDP success, I would be lying if I didn't admit to enjoying the sweet, delicious irony that has been served up to the Opposition parties. This, by the way, as a direct result of their own cynical justifications and ambitions.

It was pointed out to me that, even with triple the seat-count, the NDP now has less influence than when they were part of a coalition or dissolution threat. Harper was always walking on eggshells while having to defer to some demand or other from the NDP, Liberal and Bloc threats.

Now, that's all gone - every bit of it. The Liberals have been decimated and the NDP banished to abject, impotent seclusion across the House floor - a distance that may seem oddly substantial.

And, like Blanche DuBois in "A Streetcar Named Desire", they may be depending on "the kindness of strangers".
