AB Calgary 103.1 CIQX CALIFORNIA 103 will become XL103 in March (rumoured to be Classic Hits-Oldies)
ON Kitchener 106.7 CIKZ From KICKS COUNTRY to KIX 106
SK Regina 92.7 CHBD New station becomes BIG DOG 92.7 with Country

FREQUENCY SWAPS
ON Midland 104.1 CICZ Will be swapping frequencies with CICX 105.9 Orillia in March. Will retain its existing Country format. (Kicks 104 FM) becomes (Kicks 106 FM)
ON Orillia 105.9 CICX Will be swapping frequencies with CICZ 104.1 Midland in March. Will be flipping its existing Classic Hits format (Jack FM) to a yet to be announced new format (rumoured to be Classic Rock)

AB Fort McMurray 103.7 CFVR Raise antenna height and relocate transmitter
BC Kamloops 92.5 CFBX Lower antenna height and relocate transmitter
BC Whistler 100.1 CBYW Increase power from 470 watts (E.R.P.) to 500 watts (E.R.P.) & raise antenna height
NB Plaster Rock 91.7 CIKX-1 Move to 88.3
NS Halifax 97.9 CIRH Move to 107.7 and increase power from 12 watts to 560 watts (1,000 watts E.R.P.)
ON Cobourg 100.9 CKJJ-1 Relocate transmitter site
ON Cobourg 103.1 CFMZ Will have local programming 24 hours per week (currently simulcasts CFMX-1 96.3 Toronto 100%) (format will remain Classical)

BC Penticton 100.7 CIGV Ownership change from Great Valleys Radio to the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group (would have included CIGV-1 98.9 Keremeos and CIGV-2 98.1 Princeton) (common ownership policy would have been breached as signal will overlap into Kelowna where Pattison has 2 existing FM's)
BC Vernon 107.5 CKIZ Ownership change from Rogers Communications to the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group (would have included CKIZ-1 93.9 Enderby) (common ownership policy would have been breached as signal will overlap into Kelowna where Pattison has 2 existing FM's)
NS Halifax 105.1 CHAL-cp Extension by CanWest Media to get this station on the air has been denied. This in effect means the construction permit has been rescinded
ON Muncey 88.5 50 watts (Aboriginal) (Sidney Dolson) (financial & human resource concerns were not addressed by the applicant)
ON Owen Sound 96.1 5,450 watts (Oldies/Talk) (would have been a nested repeater for CFOS 560 Owen Sound) (technical parameters were not acceptable)

PROPOSED TECHNICAL CHANGES
ON Arnprior 107.7 CHMY-1 Increase power from 1,000 watts (E.R.P.) to 2,500 watts (E.R.P.), raise antenna height and relocate transmitter
QC Vaudreil-Dorion 100.1 CJVD-cp 550 watts (1,000 watts E.R.P.) (Oldies) (French) Previously approved but applied frequency of 106.3 was not acceptable (Yves Sauve)


In last months column I reported that CKLC 1380 in Kingston never did simulcast their new flipped FM at 98.9. Saul Chernos from the Toronto area has informed me that they did indeed simulcast, but it only lasted 5 days. Thanks for the information Saul.
