Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1982 .. It's Vancouver's Headpins featuring Darby Mills and "Don't It Make Ya Feel" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

Headpins was formed out of necessity by multi-instumentalist Brian "Too Loud" MacLeod and bassist Ab Bryant. Both members of Chilliwack, the pair needed to earn a living while their main band and its leader Bill Henderson were prevented by litigation from recording. The lawsuits, revolving around the collapse of Mushroom Records, were eventually resolved. By then, however, Headpins was winning raves with its banshee-shrieking frontgal Darby Mills. For awhile, Chilliwack and Headpins coexisted. (Notice that Bill co-produced this single). Brian and Ab gave way for 'Pins tour replacements if schedules conflicted. Meanwhile, Chilliwack prospered mightily with three US Top 40 hits in the early '80s. Alas, MacLeod and Bryant opted to give 100 percent to Headpins. Personally, I wish they could have kept the balancing act going with the two bands. Brian MacLeod sadly passed from cancer in 1993.
