Hands down the catchiest Anglo single ever released by the sisters, Love Over And Over was buoyed by the nifty picking of Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler. It was also the name of their final album before taking an eight-year hiatus.
Kate (who passed in 2010) devoted herself to raising her two children, Rufus and Martha Wainwright. Martha, currently juggling a singing career with motherhood, recently acknowledged mixed feelings about her mum's sacrifice. On one hand, Martha appreciated the constant presence of a parent (her and Rufus's dad--folk singer Loudon Wainwright III--remarried and toured incessantly). However, she lamented the McGarrigles' voluntary retreat from the music biz during their peak artistic years.
Kate, Anna and third sister Jane were also adepts behind the console: They produced this single at Morin Heights. Sadly, the acclaimed studio recently burned to the ground, after falling into disrepair.
