Today's Can-Con 45 is from 1984 ... an early one from Bryan Adams ... "Run To You" ...

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

I first heard Run To Me on Maui while squinting at oncoming traffic on a rainy night outside Kehei.

From the first Blue Oyster Cult-like guitar riff, I was hooked. I remember thinking: This guy's come a long way from his falsettoish glam days with Sweeney Todd (replacing Nick Gilder) and his equally fey solo attempt at disco with Let Me Take You Dancing.

Luckily A&M kept the faith and let him morph into a rocker. Add manager Bruce Allen to the equation and perhaps mega stardom was inevitable.

One of the nicest guys I ever interviewed. The first time was a disaster.

I ran a tape of the shot and it ran at double speed, on CFUN.

He has never let me forget it. That was 1982.

Bruce Allen should get his props. He is one smart and tuned in chap. I respect them both immensely, and like them very much. I am lucky to know them.
